Welcome to Silimalombu!

Hi, I am Ratna. Right now I am seeding trees up in the mountain where our river comes from. We hope the forest will improve the quality of our drinking water. In the background you see Lake Toba and our small village right on the beach.
Every day in the morning I go to the lake for fishing. The fish is called Tilapia and it is about 1 kg. We give it to the fishtrader to sell it on the market. This is our main income.

This is my village Silimalombu. We are 30 people in 10 houses. Around our village there are about 250 people.



In the morning, after fishing, I work as a teacher. After the school I beginn with work on my farm.

Here we ar planting new trees to get good wood from our forest. This is hard work, then first you have to clean the ground from many bushes, then you have to care for the young trees for many years.

    I only just recently (a few minutes ago) discovered your project, a project that I/we (my partner Keveen) fully believe in with all of our heart and want to lend our hands, our hearts and our time to. This is exactly the kind of project we would like to get behind and push forward.

    In our exploring of the site, I did not find any email to send volunteer inquiries, but nonetheless I wanted to offer our hands and anything else you might need in the coming months, from planting trees to photography to cooking to fishing, from seed indexing to hugs, you name it and we would love to contribute. We can volunteer, build, laugh, learn, share, play, farm...only possibility awaits!

    We are currently in the North of Malaysia volunteering on an organic farm and will be making our way down to Indonesia in the coming weeks...By The 1st of Feb we will be back in Kuala Lumpur to apply for the Social-Cultural Visa for 2 months. WE HOPE TO ENTER INDONESIA IN EARLY FEB...

    A little about us:
    Me...Gina: I am 25, originally from the US (California/Florida), but follow my feet wherever they take me. Worked the last 6 years in veterinary medicine (small breed pets [mostly cats and dogs]..., I have also done my fair share of farm work on various organic farms, permaculutre farms, family garden projects, etc...I am a fast learner and put my heart into absolutely everything I do (if i dont know it I find it out!) I am also a co-founder and partner of KORAKOR a project about connecting with oneself, others and all that makes the world.

    Keveen (my partner), is 29, originally from France (South of France close to Nice), though he has been running with the wind for longer than it has blown. He is an educator with a deep-seeded passion for agriculture! He is also the founder/creator of KORAKOR an NGO based out of California. He is kind, gentle and a wonderfully dedicated hard worker!

    Is there a possibility in volunteering, co-creating and or collaborating?

    Hoping we can come and participate with you!

    I am very interested in and impressed by your efforts in creating an ecovillage as well as educating. I have taken part in various activities that require interaction with children and absolutely enjoy spending time and teaching kids.     My name is Sarah, and I have worked in forerty related projects over the last 5 years in Australia, Canada and Scottland. In Australia I also did a lot of management which included organizing crew, doing finances, computer stuff etc. At the moment I am studying ecosystem management in Germany, but I´ll have abot 6 month off and wanna use the chance to learn as much as I can about organic farming and such.
